Rope Recycling at TEHO Europe

By |2025-12-12T18:47:21-06:002025-12-12|News|0 Comments

At TEHO Europe, we continue to take practical steps toward a more sustainable maritime industry. Through a new partnership, we now offer our customers the possibility to return used mooring ropes for proper recycling. Mooring ropes that have reached the end of their service life are often difficult to dispose of responsibly. By enabling controlled recycling, these materials can be given a new purpose instead of becoming waste. This contributes directly to reducing CO₂ emissions and supports a cleaner, more circular maritime sector. Recycling used ropes helps to: Reduce environmental impact Promote efficient use of resources Support sustainable production processes Encourage responsible material use This service fits naturally within our broader commitment to sustainability and responsible operations. While safety, performance and reliability remain at the core of our products and services, we believe environmental responsibility is equally important for the future of the maritime industry. By offering rope recycling as part of our services, we aim to support our customers in making more sustainable choices without compromising on operational standards. We see this initiative as a practical and achievable step toward a greener maritime sector, and we look forward to continuing this journey together with our partners and customers.

TEHO Ropes Europe took another step towards sustainability by installing 50 solar panels at our facility. This initiative supports our commitment to reducing environmental impact and lowering our dependency on non-renewable energy sources. The installation is expected to generate approximately 20,000 kWh of clean electricity per year — a meaningful contribution to our energy efficiency goals. Sustainability is a continuous focus at TEHO. In addition to solar energy, we encourage the use of electric vehicles with on-site charging points and are constantly working to reduce our overall energy footprint. By investing in renewable energy and greener infrastructure, we aim to support a cleaner future for the maritime industry.

The importance of residual strength testing of mooring ropes

By |2025-03-06T03:58:04-06:002025-03-06|News|0 Comments

Mooring ropes are essential to the safety and stability of vessels during docking and mooring operations. However, over time, the performance of these ropes can degrade due to wear and tear, exposure to harsh environmental conditions, and frequent use. According to the MEG4 (Mooring Equipment Guidelines, 4th Edition) by the Oil Companies International Marine Forum (OCIMF), it is recommended to retire mooring ropes when their residual strength falls below 75% of the Ship Design Minimum Breaking Load (MBL). This guideline helps shipowners and technical managers make informed decisions regarding the safety and operational effectiveness of their mooring systems. Ensuring that your mooring ropes maintain adequate strength is crucial for preventing accidents and ensuring long-term reliability. MEG4 and residual strength testing Residual strength testing plays a critical role in assessing the performance of mooring ropes. This testing method reveals how much strength the rope retains after prolonged use, providing valuable data on its performance. Regular testing allows shipowners to make data-driven decisions about the retirement and replacement of mooring ropes, ensuring compliance with MEG4 guidelines and preventing failures during critical operations. By continuously monitoring the residual strength of your mooring lines, you can optimize your mooring system and avoid unforeseen rope [...]
