We’re excited to share the latest progress on our LNG retrofit project. Our expert rope team, fresh from an in-depth dry dock pre-inspection, is now gearing up for the next critical phase: installation. The FSO Safer, moored just nine kilometers off Yemen’s Ras Isa peninsula since 1988, is a ticking time bomb. Holding a colossal 1 million barrels of oil, it’s at risk of exploding or breaking apart due to years of decay amidst conflict in Yemen. Such a catastrophe would have disastrous effects on the region and beyond. In response, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has launched an urgent mission to transfer the oil to a safer vessel, the VLCC Nautica. We’re proud to announce that TEHO Ropes has been chosen to provide the crucial mooring equipment for the Nautica. Our Magnaro® HMPE rope is an advanced synthetic rope which combines light-weight, unmatched strength and excellent abrasion resistance to make mooring operations safer and faster. Its weight is 7 times lower than steel wire in the same size without compromising on strength. Magnaro® HMPE features superb ease of handling, low cost of ownership and long lasting service life. For one of our most valued customers, we recently booked several orders to replace their more traditional nylon Atlas-ropes by our newly developed mixed MAGNARO®-RRR nylon ropes to increase safety on board.
